PSC owns and operates the Norco Oil Recovery Facility (NORF) located in Norco, Louisiana. The NORF is an oil recovery unit that can receive a variety of sludges, byproducts or spent materials generated by our clients in the refining and petrochemical industries.
Pumpable sludges are dewatered through a three-phase centrifuge to recover oil and water from the material. The solids generated from the centrifuge process or solids that are shipped directly from the client are processed through a high temperature thermal desorption unit which is an indirect fired rotary kiln. The solids are heated to ensure they meet Universal Treatment Standards. Volatile organics are captured and destroyed in the system’s vapor combustion system. Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) emissions from this process are destroyed via a permitted thermal oxidizer.
Thanks to the NORF, PSC can recover valuable oil, reduce the total material volume, and ensure that the resulting treated material can be disposed of at a non-hazardous waste landfill.
